Instructions for Use

Mortar Preparation:

Mix 4.5 to 5.0 liters of clean water for every 25 kg bag of MUXBOARD® Surface and Joint Mortar. Use an electric mixing drill to blend the water and powder until a smooth, homogeneous paste is obtained. Application temperatures range from 5°C to 30°C. If the compound begins to harden during application, do not mix it with more water; discard it and prepare enough fresh material to complete the job.

For Joint Treatment:

MUXBOARD® panels must be installed with a 3 mm to 5 mm gap between adjacent boards. The joint surface must be free of dust, efflorescence, grease, loose debris, or any other material that could impair adhesion.

Apply an even layer of MUXBOARD® Surface and Joint Mortar to the joint, ensuring the gap between the boards is completely filled and sufficient material remains to fully embed the joint tape. Apply MUXBOARD® Joint Tape centered over the joint. Use a spatula to fully embed the tape and level the joint. Apply a thin layer of MUXBOARD® Surface and Joint Mortar to cover the joint tape. Consumption is approximately 0.5 kg/m².

Coating MUXBOARD

The surface of the board must be clean, dry, and free of grease and loose material. The boards must be securely fastened to the structure, and the joints between them must already be treated and dry. To improve adhesion, it is recommended to apply a bonding agent.

Apply a 3.5 mm to 4.5 mm layer of mortar evenly over the surface of the boards using a trowel. Embed the MUXBOARD® reinforcement mesh into the mortar, ensuring it is laid smoothly and avoiding wrinkles. The mesh should be positioned within the outer third of the mortar layer. Adjacent mesh sections must overlap by 10 cm. The final thickness of the mesh/mortar layer (once dry) should be between 2.5 mm and 4.0 mm. Consumption is approximately 3 kg/m².
